Buyback is one of the services performed by the Bookstore. Our goal is to purchase the majority of our used books during buyback--however we do purchase some of our used books from wholesale book companies. We try to offer used books wherever possible.

Our school buybacks are held during finals for the spring and fall semesters.                                                                                                          

One buyback will be held in August for all summer sessions.                              

                                      
The Bookstore itself conducts the buyback. The instructors choose the textbooks which they intend to use in their classes. Based on the quantity we need and the demand for the book, the student can receive up to 50% of the original price of a new book. Books must be in good re-sellable condition.   If the Bookstore does not have any demand for the book, it is always possible that the wholesale book company may purchase the book at a price which they have set.

 RECEIPTS ARE NOT REQUIRED FOR BUYBACK

Since the physical condition of the book is a prime factor we are unable to quote buyback prices per telephone. 

We have to see the book before a price will be offered. 

                                                                                                                         
Some common reasons for not buying a book back:

• We have yet to receive an adoption form from the instructor in that area and therefore we do not know if the book will be used again.
• The book has gone into a new edition causing the market value of the book to be zero.
• The Bookstore itself has reached its quota on the number of books needed based on expected enrollment.
• The book itself in not in saleable condition (water damage, pages missing, writing in workbook type books, or over-all condition will not allow re-sale.)
• We will not purchase international copies of textbooks.

The Bookstore will not buy books which are clearly identified as instructor's copies--we cannot resell these nor can we donate them overseas).

We do not buy back any books in binders or any course packets printed here on campus.

 
Please watch for signs which will be posted throughout the school with times and dates for buybacks.

In addition to the Bookstore buyback during finals, you can also sell your books back year round receiving prices set by the wholesalers.
